The KBS Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Chung Myung-whun, will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D minor, the “Choral” (famous for its final movement using Schiller’s poem “Ode to Joy”), on Dec. 27 at Seoul Arts Center. This marks their first performance of the work together since 2021 and is a year-end highlight announcing the orchestra’s upcoming 70th anniversary. Soloists include soprano Choi Ji-eun, mezzo-soprano Yang Song-mi, tenor Sohn Ji-hoon, and baritone Kim Ki-hoon, with guest choirs from Goyang, Seoul Motet, and Anyang. The Dec. 27 concert is sold out; additional dates with the same program will be held at Goyang Aram Nuri (Dec. 24), Sejong Arts Center (Dec. 28), and Sejong Center for the Performing Arts (Dec. 30). Tickets may become available through NOL Ticket or the Arts Center website if cancellations occur.
