Ulsan’s new experiential tourist attraction, the Yonggeomso Skywalk, is set to open early next year near the busy Taehwa Market, but merchants and local officials warn it could worsen an already chronic parking problem. On market days the area becomes extremely congested, with cars parked on main roads and narrow alleys; merchants fear added visitor traffic will intensify the “parking war.” City councilors have urged the city to secure parking before the skywalk opens, and concerns rise as construction of a multi-level public parking tower on the market site will begin next month and block existing parking until its planned completion in March 2027. The city says there is little land available for new lots and plans to direct visitors to distant public lots along the Seongnam and Taehwagang riverbanks to spread demand.
