Versailles to Raise Non-EU Visitor Fee Next Year

The Palace of Versailles will increase the admission fee for visitors from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) from €32 to €35 starting January 14. The 9.4% hike follows a broader French policy that charges higher fees to non-European visitors to raise funds for national heritage restoration. Versailles expects an additional €9.3 million annually; last year 83% of its 8.4 million visitors were foreigners, with Americans the largest group (15%). The move follows similar fare changes at the Louvre, which will raise non-European prices from €22 to €32, and other Paris attractions and Loire castles plan to adopt differential pricing by visitor origin.
