On the 14th at 7 PM, the newly formed Rube Symphony Orchestra, a youth professional ensemble based in Chuncheon, held its inaugural concert at Chuncheon Festival Theater Momjit. Co-founded by artistic director Lim Byeong-jin and Lee Seok-gi (director of the Chuncheon International High School Music Festival), the orchestra features young local musicians including violinist Yang Ye-rin, alumni of the Chuncheon City Youth Symphony. With a belief that “when music lovers gather, unique stages are created,” the group presents a wide repertoire beyond classical music, covering film scores, jazz, animation, and pop. The program opened with medleys from Frozen 2 and Aladdin, followed by Tchaikovsky’s “Waltz of the Flowers” from The Nutcracker and Johann Strauss I’s “Radetzky March.” Solo performances include Sarasate’s “Zigeunerweisen” (Gypsy Airs) by Yang Ye-rin (violin) and the third movement of Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto by trumpeter Lee Seong-jin. The orchestra plans regular concerts and varied programs to engage closely with audiences.
