Dong-A Otsuka received the Prime Minister's Award at the 32nd Corporate Innovation Awards in Seoul for achievements in management innovation and ESG (environment, social, governance) practices. The company was recognized for sustainable operations such as reducing plastic use and building eco-friendly production systems. Its 340 ml label-free PET (polyethylene terephthalate) Pocari Sweat bottle, launched last year, cut packaging waste by 15 tons and reduced carbon emissions by 28 tons. Beyond green products, the firm runs community programs to protect heat-vulnerable groups—seniors, outdoor workers, farmers, and the homeless—through heat-illness prevention campaigns since 2017 and a 2023 agreement with the Ministry of Employment and Labor to safeguard workers during extreme heat. CEO Park Cheol-ho said the company will continue focusing on innovation and ESG to generate positive environmental and social value.
