Yesan Permanent Market in Chungcheongnam-do has decorated the market with large Christmas trees and lights for the year-end season, hosting photo zones and events under the theme “Santa Comes to Yesan Market.” The merchant association, which operates the market visited by about 900,000 people annually, plans a special event on Dec. 24–25 where Santa will hand gifts to children. The merchant group also vows to improve hygiene, price transparency, and customer service while working with Yesan County on long-term plans for revitalizing the commercial area, reorganizing spaces, and upgrading facilities. The project is a voluntary effort by vendors to boost the traditional market (jeontong sijang) as a shared community asset and support local farmers and small shop owners.
