KCC’s private audio museum “Audium” in Seocho-gu, Seoul, has won the UNESCO‑sponsored Versailles Architecture Awards’ 2025 Interior Special Award, marking the first time a Korean museum earned recognition in this category. Opened in June last year and designed with participation from Japanese architect Kengo Kuma and designer Kenya Hara, the museum spans underground to five floors and features 20,000 vertical aluminum pipes that evoke urban nature. Audium showcases 150 years of audio history since the phonograph and focuses on sound‑centered exhibitions and experiences; its permanent exhibition “Jeongeum: Journey of Sound” has attracted about 25,000 visitors. The museum also runs audio walks for visually impaired visitors and plans to expand sound heritage research and build a sound archive. (Audium: KCC’s private audio museum)
