Global fashion brand UNIQLO donated 60,000 Heattech garments to about 30,000 low-income solitary elderly people in South Korea as part of its global ‘The Heart of LifeWear’ campaign to provide 1 million Heattech items to vulnerable groups worldwide. Working with the country’s Senior Support Center (독거노인종합지원센터) and local elderly care services (노인맞춤돌봄서비스), UNIQLO distributed roughly 10 billion KRW worth of clothing across 16 regions over three weeks and increased donations by 10,000 pieces compared to last year. To mark the completion, UNIQLO staff and volunteers held a kimchi-making (김장) event at a Seoul senior welfare center and will deliver kimchi to about 900 local solitary seniors. The campaign reflects UNIQLO’s LifeWear philosophy to improve everyday life and respond to growing senior poverty in South Korea’s aging society.
