Samyang Foods relaunched 'Samyang 1963'—a premium ramen using beef tallow (uji, cow fat)—for the first time in 36 years. Despite being about 1.5 times more expensive than regular Samyang ramen, the product exceeded 7 million units sold within its first month, surpassing 80% of the company’s typical monthly sales for its classic product. Online interest has been huge: company-made and creator videos have nearly 80 million views. A one-week pop-up store in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, closed reservations in five minutes, drew over 10,000 visitors, and saw daily queues with around 1,500 on-site registration attempts. Samyang plans continued on- and offline marketing next year to grow market share.
