CHICOR, a premium beauty select shop by Shinsegae Department Store, opened large new stores in Myeongdong (Dec 5) and Hongdae (Dec 11) to target foreign tourists and the K-beauty market. Following earlier expansion in Gangnam, the stores are among CHICOR’s largest, carrying about 230 brands including popular K-beauty names (e.g., TIRTIR, Jung Saem Mool, d’Alba) and an ‘Indie Zone’ for smaller labels. Myeongdong focuses on K-makeup with a first-floor lip & cheek bar and skincare/perfume/hair-body on the second; Hongdae adopts a cozy “vanity desk” concept aimed at MZ-generation visitors with a K-perfume station and floor-by-floor product segmentation. The chain reported strong foreign-customer growth—AK Hongdae saw foreign sales rise 77% (Jan–Oct) year-on-year and Gangnam sales grew over 20%—and will expand personalized services like 1:1 K-makeup by professional artists and an AI scalp-diagnostic “beauty lab.” Opening promotions include sample pouches and tiered purchase discounts with reusable bags.
