South Korea’s LF reports a sharp rise in demand for winter accessories like scarves (목도리) and hand warmers (핸드워머) as a cold wave begins. Consumers prioritize immediate warmth, versatile styling, and giftability, pushing small accessories into essential winter fashion. In November, LF Mall searches for scarves rose 47% and hand warmers 20%; hat and earmuff searches also climbed. Brands are responding with premium materials (cashmere, mink fur, merino wool), varied textures and colors, and multifunctional designs: lightweight pieces for early winter, heavy shawls and balaclavas for deep cold, and trendy triangle and wide-shawl shapes for layering. Sales gains include a 15% rise in scarves at Daks, 115% jump in glove sales, and an overall 42% increase in scarf category sales at another brand. Retailers are offering seasonal promotions and gift packaging ahead of Christmas through early December.
