Manhattan School Alumni Vocal Concert and Pianist Oh Sora Solo Recital in Yeongdeungpo

The Manhattan School of Music alumni association (a gathering of graduates from Manhattan School of Music) presents a vocal concert on Dec. 10 at Yeongsan Art Hall in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. Titled “Winter Night Concert,” the program features alumni vocalists — including sopranos Baek Jun-young, Baek Jae-yeon, and others — with pianists Baek Seung-ah and Yeon I-seul. Part 1, styled as a cabaret (cabaret-style banquet), showcases American composers Kurt Weill, Leonard Bernstein, and George Gershwin. Part 2, “An Evening of Arias,” presents operatic arias by Offenbach, Mozart, Massenet, and Bizet. Contact: YoungEum Arts Planning (02-581-5404).
Pianist Oh Sora gives a solo recital on Dec. 13 at the same venue. A Juilliard (preparatory and graduate) and Eastman alum with a DMA in piano performance and literature, Oh has won several international competitions (including the Schubert International Competition), performed with orchestras like the Czech National Symphony and Minnesota Orchestra, and appeared at venues such as Carnegie Hall. Former Juilliard preparatory instructor and Eastman assistant, she now performs and teaches in Korea. Her program includes works by Handel, Beethoven, Franck, and Scriabin.
