Jeon In-geon, director of the Daegu Gansong Museum, has been accused of fraud after failing to pay settlement fees to four exhibition production companies, prompting a 4.7 billion won damages suit and a police summons. The disputed exhibition, an immersive media art show that reinterpreted artifacts like the Hunminjeongeum Haeryebon and Miindo, ran at DDP from Aug to Apr and was organized by the Gansong Art & Cultural Foundation. Jeon says he prepared the show through a personal company to protect the foundation and claims inability to pay arose from cash flow issues rather than intent to harm. As a result of the legal dispute, the museum’s on-display national treasure, the celadon inlaid crane-and-cloud bottle (Cheongja sanggam unhakmun maebyung), is reportedly under provisional seizure (gawamryu), though the museum plans to continue exhibiting it through next month. Jeon also says overseas exhibition opportunities could generate revenue to settle unpaid fees.
