Hanjin Group’s five airlines—Korean Air, Asiana, Jin Air, Air Busan, and Air Seoul—will install SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet on board, the first such move by a South Korean carrier group. The rollout will start with preparations this year and in-service deployments from Q3 next year, initially on long‑haul jets (Boeing 777‑300ER and Airbus A350‑900) and select short‑haul models. Starlink uses low‑Earth orbit satellites (about 550 km altitude) to offer broadband speeds up to 500 Mbps, supporting streaming, gaming, messaging, large file transfers and work tasks across all cabin classes. Pricing (free vs. paid) has not been decided; full fleet integration across the merged carriers is planned by the end of 2027. The carriers say the upgrade aims to elevate passenger experience during and after the Korean Air–Asiana integration and LCC consolidations.
