The Aesthetics of Our Dance on Stage: Jang Yu-gyeong Dance Showcase on the 13th

On the 13th at 5 PM, Seogu Culture Center hosts 'Jang Yu-gyeong Dance Showcase – Scenes Where Everyday Life Becomes Dance,' featuring the Jang Yu-gyeong Dance Company and a program of Korean traditional dances. Choreographer Jang Yu-gyeong, who trained from age seven under Kwon Myeong-hwa and has preserved regional traditional dance forms, leads the company. The performance includes eight musicians and a diverse repertoire: fan dance (buchae-chum), mouth-sound dance (Ip: adding rhythms with vocal sounds), small drum dance (sogo-chum), a solo shinae-style dance (sinawi), fan sanjo (buchae-sanjeo) evoking Yeongnam scholar spirit, bellflower-root dance (doraji-chum), jige (carrying-frame) dance, and concludes with Jang and 13 dancers performing Seonsal-puri (seonsal-puri-chum) to highlight the aesthetics of traditional dance.
