AK Holdings (Aekyung) held its 2025 "Love Kimjang" kimchi-sharing event with the nonprofit Hope Sharing People at AK Plaza Gwangmyeong on Dec 4. Around 100 employees and volunteers from social welfare groups prepared 3,300 baechu kimchi heads (about 11 tons). The kimchi will be distributed to roughly 1,300 vulnerable households, including youths preparing for independence, multicultural families, single-parent families, North Korean defectors, and isolated seniors in Mapo. AK Holdings has run this annual kimjang kimchi donation since 2004 (22 years), aiming to bring warmth to neighbors in need during the year-end season. Earlier, the company’s Cheongyang factory hosted a local kimjang event on Dec 1–2, where volunteers made 300 kimchi heads for police stations, fire stations, and village senior centers. AK Holdings said the long-running program is a signature community outreach effort and hopes the carefully made kimchi provides comfort and support to recipients.
