Jeju Tourism Organization signed a cooperation agreement with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) on Dec. 3 in Chiang Rai, Thailand, marking the board’s first official partnership with an international tourism body since its founding. PATA, a nonprofit founded in 1951 with about 450 members across government, tourism bodies, academia and industry, promotes responsible tourism and global networking in the Asia-Pacific. The signing took place as part of the PATA Destination Marketing Forum, attended by some 300 officials and experts from 19 countries. PATA’s CEO praised Jeju’s sustainable tourism efforts and its three PATA Gold Awards, pledging support to raise Jeju’s global profile. Jeju Tourism Organization plans to attract PATA’s conferences and annual meetings to the island, and to expand joint marketing, travel promotion and policy exchanges with PATA members. The agreement aims to boost Jeju’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) competitiveness and foster higher-quality international partnerships.
