Musinsa’s in-house brand Musinsa Standard opened a new store in Starfield Goyang on November 27 and, together with a renewed Hongdae flagship, exceeded 1 billion won in combined sales within four days. The Starfield Goyang store, located on basement level 1, recorded 55,000 visitors over the opening weekend. The retailer tailored the large northern Seoul metropolitan-area store to local Goyang/Ilsan lifestyles and expanded product ranges (men’s, women’s, kids, beauty, home, jewelry) to attract diverse age groups. Creative local-themed events using the wordplay on “Goyang” (which includes “go” and “yang,” and sounds like “cat” in Korean) — such as gifting customers who show photos of cats or pets — increased buzz and participation. The Hongdae store doubled its floor space after four years and drew long lines, helped by a Stranger Things pop-up that had over 150 people queuing each morning. Musinsa Standard says expanding categories and enhancing offline brand experiences drove the strong customer interest.
