This week in Busan features a mix of theatre, dance, comedy and visual arts exploring memory, identity and healing. The Busan Dongnae Gugakdan presents “Topophilia: Dongnae, Crossing Memory,” a traditional music and dance program based on 1940s Dongnae (a historic neighborhood) on the 5th. The interdisciplinary play “Stigma” (4–6th) blends theatre, dance, music and photography to show a trauma-stricken photographer’s inner healing. Comedian Kang An-ri, who is visibly pregnant, performs a stand-up show “OPEN YOUR LEGS!” on the 6th, humorously reflecting on pregnancy and identity. In visual arts, Jang Geon-jo’s 22nd solo show “Cosmic Forms” (6–16th) presents abstract works about the origin of existence; Yun Young-hwa’s solo exhibition “Salt and Ash: Existence and the Sacred” opens with live painting and performance; a family calligraphy exhibition runs through the 7th; photographer Kim In-a’s first solo show “Seams: On Traces” (through the 7th) examines memory and bodily traces; and Japanese artist mayuwassan’s colorful animal-character show “Dreaming” is on view at Ocean Gallery until the 15th. (Topophilia: a love of place)
