Andong Steamed Chicken Becomes Dessert: Andong Jjimdak Pie and Hahoe Mask Jelly

Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization and Andong City have created two new desserts inspired by local ingredients and traditions: Andong jjimdak pie and Hahoe mask (Hahoe-tal) yeonyanggeng (traditional soft sweet jelly). The jjimdak pie reinterprets the regional braised chicken dish (jjimdak) using chicken and soy-based seasonings wrapped in pie dough for a unique texture. The Hahoe-mask jelly mimics the UNESCO-listed Hahoe Village mask and incorporates Andong specialties like apples and strawberries into the silky yeonyanggeng. The organization invited popular YouTubers to taste and film the treats. The desserts are available at several local cafes and resorts, and officials say they will continue developing culture-tourism content using regional resources.
