Actor and restaurateur Hong Seok-cheon revealed he closed over a dozen food businesses due to health and personal burnout. Once running more than ten outlets across Korea, Hong said the first decade brought loyal staff and satisfaction, but the later years left him drained by people issues. Crucially, he developed sepsis (패혈증) from severe infection caused by stress-related immune problems and nearly died—after more than ten days of hospital care he decided to quit the restaurant industry before the COVID-19 pandemic.
