South Korea's Intellectual Property Office, together with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Intellectual Property Committee, has published the first 'Strategic IP Investigation and Analysis Guidelines' and a companion 'Quality Management Manual.' The practical guide helps researchers and institutions use patent and other IP big data throughout the R&D lifecycle—detailing what, when and how to investigate, analyze and apply results. The quality manual sets standards to improve reliability and usefulness of analysis outputs for planning and execution stages. Officials said strong IP management and quality control are crucial national assets amid global technology competition and will support policy alignment, interagency cooperation, and wider distribution to ministries, universities, research institutes and companies. The documents are also available on the agencies' websites. (R&D: research and development)
