Kumho Tire has chosen Opole, Poland as the site for its first European production hub, investing $587 million (about 860 billion won) to start operations in August 2028. The initial phase will produce 6 million tires annually with room for future expansion. The move aims to strengthen local supply chains and enhance competitiveness in the important European market (about 25% of global tire consumption), boost response to original equipment (OE) demand, and pursue high-value, high-performance products. Kumho plans to leverage local production to deepen partnerships with premium automakers and raise brand value. Domestically, Kumho will also build a new factory in Hampyeong producing 5.3 million tires per year by late 2027, creating a global production network across Korea, Europe, and North America.
