Sahyuwon, a new K-garden and cultural-wellness complex on the slopes of Palgongsan near Gunwi, Daegu, has been named a "Promising Tourist Site" in the 2025 Korea Tourism Stars. Blending traditional Korean garden aesthetics (K-garden) with contemporary architecture, Sahyuwon offers garden dining, yoga, sound walking, seasonal festivals, gallery exhibitions and an outdoor performance stage to provide visitors with relaxation, reflection and inspiration. The venue spans about 52 hectares and showcases works by renowned architects, landscapers and artists, while operating a regional "Daegu Art & Heritage" travel package to boost local tourism. The announcement also honored ten tourism spots nationwide: Gyeongju’s Hanok-lined Hwangridan-gil was named "Spot of the Year" after its renovation into cafes and fusion eateries; accessible tourism received recognition with the Kim Yu-jeong Rail Bike (featuring wheelchair-accessible cars and audio/ Braille guidance); eco-friendly Biyangdo Island in Jeju was praised for preserving natural landscapes and promoting low-waste, bike-and-walk tourism; and traditional experiences like the restored 16th-century Ham-an Nakwhanori (floating firework) and the farm-theme Gochang Sangha Farm earned awards. Innovative local policy initiatives — including subsidized regional currency travel packages — and contributors to tourism culture such as the Jeju Olle trail and a K-drama writer were also recognized.
