Asiana Airlines will relocate from Terminal 1 (T1) to Terminal 2 (T2) at Incheon International Airport on January 14 next year, joining 12 other carriers and potentially reversing current passenger share from T1 48.5% / T2 51.5% (expected). The influx could overload T2 security checkpoints, causing screening times during busy periods to stretch from about 40 minutes up to an hour or more. Unions say T2 currently has 887 security staff and already faces under‑resourcing and excessive continuous screening duties; they estimate at least 250 additional screeners are needed. Airport security subsidiary and the airport authority are discussing responses, including moving 156 staff from T1 to T2, but industry and union sources warn such reassignments may be insufficient as both terminals could face staff shortages. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is coordinating stakeholders to prevent major passenger flow problems. (T1/T2: Terminal 1/Terminal 2)
