A growing trend among Korea’s MZ generation (millennials and Gen Z) is the “morning rave,” where people gather at clubs, cafes or events around 7 AM to dance, enjoy DJ sets and live bands while drinking coffee or non-alcoholic cocktails. Organized groups like Seoul Morning Coffee Club and venues in Itaewon have popularized these short 1–2 hour social gatherings that let participants have energetic social time and return to work or school. Brands and fashion labels are tapping into the scene as it moves from subculture to mainstream. Experts link the rise to lifestyle changes after the COVID-19 pandemic—more flexible work hours, reduced late-night drinking, and a desire for morning activities that boost achievement and well-being. The movement echoes earlier “daybreaker” events abroad but represents a shift in Korea’s historically night-focused social patterns.
