Winter Season Kicks Off: Thousands Visit Gangwon Ski Resorts

Major ski resorts in Gangwon Province opened for the 2025–2026 season in late November, drawing thousands of visitors on the final Saturday of the month. Mona Yongpyong (모나용평) and Phoenix Snow Park in Pyeongchang opened on Nov. 21 and saw high turnout, with Mona Yongpyong reporting about 3,500–4,000 visitors on peak days as it gradually opens more slopes. High1 Resort (하이원) in Jeongseon welcomed around 2,000 visitors on Nov. 29, promoting events and lift discounts. Other resorts, including Welli Hilli Park (웰리힐리파크) in Hoengseong, plan staggered openings in early December. Resort officials emphasized safety and promised a memorable season for guests.
