“There Will Be No Miracles Here”: Nathan Coley’s Utopian Shadows

Nathan Coley’s solo exhibition “All Possible Worlds” opens at The Page Gallery in Seoul, his first Korean show in two years, featuring nine new light-box works. Known for large-scale text-light installations, Coley layers phrases such as “THERE WILL BE NO MIRACLES HERE” over a recreated El Dorado panorama (a 19th-century wallpaper by Zuber & Cie) to probe the gap between utopia and reality. The exhibition juxtaposes a monochrome, AI-reinterpreted El Dorado landscape with pastel light boxes, re-questioning Leibniz’s idea of “the best of all possible worlds” and asking where imagined utopias actually exist. On view through January 30, 2026.
