From December 2–7, Daebak Plaza Gallery hosts an exhibition of urban sketches by Kang Seok-won depicting Bangcheon Market and Kim Kwang-seok Repainting Street (김광석다시그리기길, a memorial alley honoring singer Kim Kwang-seok). The show presents about 130 watercolor and marker sketches and some 100 on-site documentary photos capturing alleyways, shops, and people — including longtime merchants and local artists. Kang’s decade-long “My Hometown Through a Painter’s Eyes” project documents Daegu’s streets, buildings, markets, and residents by walking and sketching the city. The gallery says his work is more than painting: it is a lived record of urban life, letting visitors feel the time, warmth, and traces embedded in these neighborhoods. Kang will also hold an essay and sketchbook publication event during the exhibition.
