Former South Korean ambassador to the Holy See Han Hong-soon received the 'International John Paul II Award' at the San Lorenzo Center in Rome from the Aglaia association. The prize, given annually since the late Pope John Paul II's death in 2005, honors individuals who protect and promote the sanctity of life; past recipients include Pope Benedict XVI (2007) and Pope Francis (2018). This year’s awardees also include Francesco Benachi, secretary-general of Italy’s ULSS2 medical group, and Father Dante Cararo, a cardiac surgeon who leads the African medical society CUAMN.
