Chungju to Use Tangeumho Guesthouse as Workation Space from 2026

Chungju City in North Chungcheong Province plans to promote long-term workation tourism, converting the Tangeumho (Tangeum Lake) Guesthouse at the Chungju Experience Tourism Center into a workation space starting in 2026. The city will link workation stays with nearby attractions like Samdeungsan (a local mountain) and Suanbo hot springs, and develop wellness-focused offerings—such as renovated hot spring facilities, health and healing programs, and activity-based tourism models—to boost longer stays and local spending. The initiative follows regional recommendations to create themed long-stay workation zones that encourage accommodation-linked consumption, which research shows drives stronger local economic impact than visitor counts alone. Note: workation is a blend of “work” and “vacation.”
