The Korean-language stage production of Life of Pi opens March 2 at GS Art Center in Seoul, featuring a large, lifelike Bengal tiger puppet named Richard Parker. The puppet is operated by three visible puppeteers (퍼피티어) who synchronize their movements around an internal wooden skeleton modeled on a real tiger, creating a terrifyingly realistic presence that dominates both the stage and audience. The stage version is an acclaimed international hit—winner of multiple Olivier and Tony Awards—based on the bestselling novel and Oscar-winning film. Producers say presenting the show in Korean with local actors will deepen its philosophical impact; Park Jung-min and Park Kang-hyun share the role of Pi. Performances run through March 2 next year, with tickets priced 60,000–160,000 KRW.
