Gyeonggi Province inaugurated the EcoFarmland on May 25 in Hwaseong’s Mado area, a 119-hectare, 124.6 billion won project combining livestock R&D, healing & therapeutic equestrian facilities, and a companion animal complex. The site features 45 buildings across three zones: a livestock R&D district with barns (우사) and facilities for preserving native breeds and developing dairy cattle; a therapeutic riding zone with stables, indoor/outdoor arenas, and training equipment to support public riding programs and domestic sport-horse development; and a pet zone with a cat adoption center (고양이입양센터), training and play areas focused on adoption, protection, education, and experiential programs. Officials including Hwaseong Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun and Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon attended the opening. The mayor said EcoFarmland will serve as an innovation hub for 4th industrial-age agriculture and a key axis for rural experiential tourism (농촌체험관광) in Korea.
