The 12th Edaily Culture Awards gala on Dec. 2 at Sejong Center in Seoul will bring together top performers from Korea’s performing arts scene across a wide range of genres. Pansori singer Kim Jun-su—dubbed a ‘folk music idol’ and known from JTBC’s crossover competition Pungnyu Daejang—will open the show with his own take on the traditional ‘Bina-ri’ (a ritual folk song to ward off misfortune and pray for good fortune). K-pop rising act Le Sserafim (리센느) will perform hits like “Love Attack” and the new single “Bloom,” showcasing both emotion and energy. Crossover vocal group La Poem, winners and alumni of Phantom Singer, will deliver powerful harmonies with pieces including “Land of Morning” and “The NeverEnding Story.” Contemporary dancer-choreographer Choi Ho-jong, awarded the Frontier Prize after winning Mnet’s Stage Fighter (an audition program), will present a special modern Korean dance performance blending strong movements with nuanced expression. Indie band Jannabi, this year’s concert award winner, will play five songs in a near-solo set featuring acoustic-driven, retro-tinged favorites such as “A Hot Summer Night Is Gone” and “Thoughts on an Autumn Night.” The gala promises a vibrant mix from traditional Korean music (gugak) to K-pop, crossover, modern dance, and band performances, celebrating the breadth of Korea’s performing arts.
