The Seoul Museum of History opened a special exhibition, "Wishes in Korean Folk Painting," at the Korean Cultural Center in Washington as part of the Ministry of Culture’s Touring K-Arts program. The show spans traditional and contemporary interpretations of Seoul minwha (Korean folk painting), highlighting symbols of luck and good fortune. Featured works include two pieces with the popular tiger-and-magpie motif and a 'jukhoso' (bamboo-and-tiger painting), emphasizing positive energy and auspicious meanings. The exhibition is organized in three sections focusing on symbolism and modern transformation. Around 200 guests attended the opening reception on the 20th, which included a lucky-draw giving away Seoul Museum cultural goods. The museum director said the exhibition aims to share the beauty of minwha and Seoul's cultural depth with global audiences and to continue international exchange programs.
