The Gyeongju National Museum drew long lines before dawn after opening the special exhibition “Silla Gold Crowns: Power and Prestige,” which reunites all six Silla gold crowns found in Korea for the first time. Museum director Yoon Sang-deok said organizers expected interest but were surprised by the crowds — visitors queued from 4 a.m. and many returned multiple times to see other galleries. The exhibition, initially for APEC leaders, was released to the public on November 2 and has been extended through February 22 due to high demand. Yoon highlighted the museum’s evolution: expanded collections from ongoing excavations, renovated exhibition halls (including the Silla History Hall and Wolji Hall), and new interactive features like the bronze bell sound experience. He argued museums foster imagination and cultural content, urging continued government support to grow global programs and offer children firsthand access to world-class artifacts.
