Swiss fine watchmaker Breguet unveiled a new Reine de Naples ("Queen of Naples") lineup in October to mark its 250th anniversary. The collection, revealed first in Seoul, includes seven models across two families: four 9935 moonphase pieces and three 8925 “time-only” jewelry watches. The Reine de Naples line—distinguished by its oval case and inspired by a wristwatch made for Caroline Murat in the early 1800s—has long symbolized Breguet’s commitment to women’s haute horlogerie. The 9935 models enlarge the moonphase display (the moon motif is crafted from white mother-of-pearl and given a humanized face), remove the power-reserve indicator for a cleaner dial, and use Breguet’s new 18k alloy “Breguet Gold.” Details include pear-shaped diamond hour markers, an aventurine glass night-sky dial option, guilloché (giyoshé) patterns named “Quadrology,” and a rounded lug inspired by pearls. The automatic caliber 537L2 powers the moonphase models with about 45 hours power reserve and a silicon balance spring; the 8925 jewelry-focused models use automatic caliber 586/1 and emphasize diamonds and off-center dials. Breguet released several other 250th-anniversary pieces globally throughout the year, and executives highlighted Seoul’s importance for the growing market in women’s mechanical watches.
