The Arko Art Center in Daehangno, Seoul opened “In Situ,” an exhibition showing studio works by 10 artists who participated in the new Arko artists-in-residence program. Running through January 18, the show recreates artists’ studio environments in the gallery to highlight process and place. Ten artists—four Koreans and six internationals from Finland, Vietnam, Japan, Poland, Austria and Mozambique—present works shaped by their time in the Arko studios. Pieces range from paintings of local waterways and video pieces using a piano as social metaphor, to participatory critiques of institutional symbols, installations about displacement, and woodcuts reinterpreting Mozambican craft. Several works explore shared historical experiences such as colonialism and dictatorship, while others focus on everyday public signage and urban communication infrastructure. The exhibition is free, open Tue–Sun 11:00–19:00, and features programs including an artist talk (Nov 21) and a roundtable on residency programs (Jan 2026). (Note: “residency” refers to a program providing artists with studio and living space.)
