The world-class New York Philharmonic String Quartet will give a recital at Ulsan Culture & Arts Center's small hall on December 7 at 5 p.m. The quartet features concertmaster Frank Huang, principal second violin Qianqian Li, principal viola Cynthia Phelps, and principal cello Carter Brey — core members of the New York Philharmonic. Formed in 2017 for the orchestra's 175th anniversary, they debuted with John Adams' "Absolute Jest." The program in Ulsan includes Mozart’s Adagio and Fugue for String Quartet, Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No.3 in D major, Op.44 No.1, and Dvořák’s String Quartet No.12 in F major, Op.96 “American”. The ensemble is praised for precise ensemble playing and deep musical interpretation. Tickets are 30,000 won and available on the Ulsan Culture & Arts Center website, Naver, and YES24 (ticketing sites).
