Golden Yuzu Aroma Fills Goheung: 5th Goheung Yuzu Festival Draws Record Crowds

The 5th Goheung Yuzu Festival in Goheung County, Jeollanam-do, concluded successfully from Oct. 6–9, attracting about 300,000 visitors and setting a new attendance record for a single local event. Known as South Korea’s largest yuzu (a citrus fruit) producing area, Goheung showcased the fruit through cultural and eco-friendly programs that transformed the event into a cultural festival rather than just an agricultural fair. Highlights included ‘Yuyu-Jajeok Yuzu Path’—a scented walk and photo zones through yuzu orchards; a yuzu foot-bath ‘yuzu spa’ using essential oil components for skin-soothing effects; hands-on picking in ‘Let’s Harvest Fresh Vitamin Yuzu’ (a family-friendly harvest experience); and the 2025 Korea Yuzu Contest featuring creative yuzu-based entries. Nighttime drone shows with about 1,000 drones and performances like Yuzu Festa and Farmers’ Day added spectacle. Officials said the festival boosted local economy via sales and tourism and aims to improve logistics for even more sustainable, people- and product-focused future events.
