As winter arrives, major Korean ski resorts are opening for the 2025–2026 season. Phoenix Snow Park (celebrating its 30th anniversary) and Mona Yongpyong open on Nov 21, with Phoenix moving its opening up by eight days after colder temperatures allowed snowmaking. Opening-day events include slope ceremonies, a “opening bread” giveaway with fortune cookies containing prizes (hotel suite stays, lift tickets, and attraction vouchers), and discounted on-site lift tickets. Mona Yongpyong will open a beginner/intermediate pink slope first and expand runs as snow conditions permit. High1 Resort (operated by Kangwon Land) began snowmaking to open on Nov 28, ahead of last year, using a tailored system that monitors temperature, humidity, and wind for optimal snow quality. Gongjiam Resort and Vivaldi Park plan to open slopes in early December. Many resorts are offering family-oriented programs this season: a Christmas musical gala, busking and fireworks for New Year’s countdowns, a sunrise cable car, an international “Foreigners’ Ski Festival,” and a unique end-of-season pond performance called “Balwangsu Splash.” Gongjiam has upgraded facilities for beginners and introduced a mobile quick-pass app to handle lift tickets, payments, rentals, and entry in one step.
