Artist Lee Heon-jeong opens simultaneous solo shows at Wuson Gallery in Seoul and Daegu, presenting paintings informed by his ceramics practice. He translates the slow, unpredictable processes of pottery—kneading clay, glazing, and waiting—into brushstrokes: dripping paint, repetitive marks reminiscent of monochrome works, and rhythmic white lines evoking the physical memory of wheel-throwing. The Seoul show "Coloring the Memory of Clay" features two contrasting painting spaces—one vivid with immediate color, another in restrained black-and-white highlighting controlled repetition and chance—while the Daegu show "Jar" revisits the artist’s roots in clay, wheel, and jars (hangari). Sculptural pieces expose the materiality of earth, including "Island," built from hundreds of pressed clay segments that retain layered hand impressions.
