South Korea’s Space Agency held a two-day “Moon and Planet Exploration Science-Technology-Social Sciences Convergence Workshop” in Daejeon (Hotel Interciti) from the 19th–20th to present the national vision for lunar and planetary exploration and to stress the importance of cooperative efforts for space exploration, the space economy, and ecosystem building. Experts from major national research institutes and universities — including KAIST, Seoul National University, Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, Korea Aerospace Research Institute, and others — shared research on the scientific importance of lunar and Mars exploration, space infrastructure technologies, and strategies to revitalize the space economy. NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) specialists joined online to present recent U.S. exploration technologies and methods. The Space Agency plans to use the workshop outcomes to guide technology development and concrete strategies for a sustainable space economy, and to strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration that includes social science perspectives.
