Dokdo Lovers’ Group to Hold 12th Korea Dokdo Promotion Awards

The 12th Korea Dokdo Promotion Awards, organized by the territorial preservation group Yeongtojikimi Dokdo Lovers’ Association, will be held on December 17 at the Hanyangmun-go Demian Cultural Hall in Goyang. The awards honor individuals and organizations active in promoting and protecting Dokdo (a group of islets disputed with Japan). Candidate applications were accepted Nov. 17–25 and winners will be announced on Nov. 28. The event is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, several provincial education offices, Ulleung County, and related research and civic groups. Sponsors and cooperating companies include private firms and tax firms. The ceremony will feature musical performances by local ensembles and popular Korean singers and aims to recognize contributions during the meaningful year marking the 125th Dokdo Day. Organizers urged the government and politicians to show stronger, sincere support for Dokdo promotion rather than deferring to diplomatic caution.
