Daebaek Plaza Gallery presents a solo exhibition by artist Oh Seung-ah titled 'Dream' from November 18–30. About 30 works explore dreams and awaken forgotten warm inner feelings in modern life. Her paintings are marked by rhythmic, repeating leaf patterns that symbolize a dialogue between nature and humans and express vitality. Deep blues and greens convey inner calm, while repeated forms suggest the passage of time and accumulating emotions. Elements such as trees, the moon, houses, and clouds function as symbols of memory and feeling rather than literal objects; figures shown from behind reflect the artist’s self placed before vast nature. Curators note links to the surrealist technique 'depaysement' (placing everyday objects in unfamiliar contexts) that creates fresh sensory and mental meanings. Oh began her career after training in food and nutrition and working as a dietitian; meeting a mentor in 2006 prompted her to study art and pursue regular solo shows in Seoul and Daegu for nearly 20 years. Her work stems from a modest attempt to capture cherished moments and hopeful, happy emotions, aiming toward a utopia of dream and hope born from heartfelt longing.
