A major fire destroyed E-Land Group’s largest fashion logistics center in Cheonan, Chungnam, on Nov. 15, threatening year-end deliveries and wiping out about 11 million items of footwear and apparel. The warehouse, Asia’s largest when completed in 2014, spanned roughly 193,210 m² (about 27 football fields) and handled up to 50,000 boxes a day. Firefighting and salvage operations continued days after the blaze, with full extinguishing and structural safety expected to take up to a week. Authorities have seized CCTV to investigate the cause. E-Land reported that inventory including E-Land World’s fall-winter (FW) stock and carryover items was lost; the company had reported 3Q inventory of 444.4 billion won that included goods stored at the site. Some online orders and deliveries were delayed or canceled; brands such as New Balance and SPAO (a SPA: specialty retailer of private label apparel) have posted delivery notices. E-Land said it is using nearby group and third-party logistics centers, increasing factory output, and reallocating stock to minimize disruption. Planned promotions like Black Friday may be affected depending on each brand, though some events (e.g., SPAO Outer Festa, ROEM Brand Week) will continue as scheduled.
