Air Premia has added a fourth spare engine to strengthen operational reliability. The airline now operates eight Boeing 787-9 aircraft with 16 engines, giving a 25% spare-engine ratio—well above the industry average of about 10%—allowing faster responses to maintenance or unexpected issues. The new engine is the Rolls‑Royce Trent 1000 (Trent 1000), a Boeing 787-9–specific model whose upgraded blades and cooling system extend time-on-wing roughly threefold. Under Rolls‑Royce’s TotalCare program, Air Premia will transition future engine supplies to the new version to improve durability and reliability. The carrier also uses component pooling with KLM and Lufthansa Technik and Boeing’s spare landing gear exchange program to raise maintenance efficiency. Domestically, Air Premia signed an MOU with Korea Aviation Engine & Maintenance Services (KAEMS) for joint procurement and heavy-maintenance cooperation to bolster local maintenance capabilities. The airline plans to introduce a ninth aircraft this year and expand long-haul routes and new city services as its fleet grows.
