Kim Min-ji, winner of the Gwak Jae-seon Cultural Foundation’s 3rd art competition, presents her first solo show ‘BLUE CYCLE; Circulating Blue’ at Gallery Sun in KG Tower, Seoul until Dec 5. The ceramic-focused exhibition explores water’s cycles—evaporation, condensation, flow—and expresses nature’s diversity through layered blues representing rivers, lakes and the sea. Works include stacked-and-carved acrylic pieces and a highlight piece ‘Rippling’ made from 100 unique tiles that together form a large blue rectangle, symbolizing many different streams forming an ocean. Kim, who studied ceramic arts at Ewha Womans University, shifted from painting to ceramics for the tactile imprint of her hands and the subtle glazes. During the exhibition, she also runs a weekly noon workshop teaching visitors to make a personalized ceramic keyring (도자 키링).
