Legendary Bassist Nathan East Says He Listens to BLACKPINK and V (of BTS)

Nathan East, the renowned American bassist who has worked with Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Madonna and Eric Clapton, brings his jazz ensemble Nathan East Quartet to Korea on the 22nd to perform material from their new album Father Son. East, now on an Asia tour, recalled his positive memories of Seoul since first visiting with Fourplay in 2002 and described stepping into the spotlight for this show—playing both double bass and bass guitar, sometimes scatting, and sharing the stage with his son Noah East (a musician with perfect pitch). He noted collaborations with Korean artists are welcome; the quartet already includes Korean guitarist Jack Lee and the concert will feature Kim Ji‑hoon from Liberante (winner of JTBC’s Phantom Singer 4) as a guest vocalist. East also said he listens to K‑pop acts like BLACKPINK, NewJeans and V (from BTS).
