Even after the traditional start of winter (Ipdung, 입동) a week earlier, Koreans flocked to enjoy late-autumn foliage and festivals across the country on the weekend. Major national parks in Gangwon — including Seorak, Odaesan, Chiaksan and Taebaeksan — recorded over 22,000 visitors in a day; Odaesan alone saw about 11,000 people. Seoraksan had around 6,000 and Chiaksan over 4,700 visitors. In Chungbuk, over 12,300 people visited Songnisan (속리산) and the historic Beopjusa (법주사) temple, walking trails like Munjangdae and Cheonwangbong to capture fall colors. Hallasan on Jeju reached peak color at Eorimok Bridge (어리목교), attracting many hikers. Other popular spots included Cheongnamdae (청남대, former presidential villa) with its ginkgo-lined avenue, new Seosan reservoir walking trail (5.3 km), Unkok Seowon in Gyeongju with a 300-year-old ginkgo tree, and regional resorts. In Yangsan’s Hwangsan Park the final Yangsan Chrysanthemum Festival (국화축제) filled the air with chrysanthemum scent as families and couples photographed the blooms and children explored the grounds.
